The Indian Space
Research Organization (ISRO) has confirmed that the Chandrayaan 3 Pragyan rover
hit a huge crater on the moon and was eventually directed to land safely.
The Indian Space
Research Organisation, or ISRO tweeted on Monday afternoon that the rover had
found a crater three meters from the edge and had been diverted to a safe path
NDTV reported
During its two
week journey the six-wheeled solar-powered rover will roam the largely
uncharted territory and send back images and scientific data.
Space
Applications Center (SAC) director Nilesh M Desai said on Sunday that
Chandrayaan 3 rover module Pragyan is in a
race against time and ISRO
scientists are working on it have been Travel as far as possible to the unknown South
Pole by six-wheeled rover There are only
10 days left to complete a lunar day.
The three main
goals of the Moon mission, according to him were to land gently on the Moon maneuver the
Pragyan rover and collect science data
using the payload attached to the Vikram lander and the rover.
Two of our main objectives have been
successfully accomplished but our third objective is ongoing the scientist said.
According to an ISRO
statement earlier on Sunday the lander
module of the Chandrayaan 3 mission has successfully started conducting its
planned experiments.
A graph showing
the change in temperature on the moons surface with increasing depth has also
been released by the space agency.
On August 23 India took a giant step forward when the
Chandrayaan 3 lander module successfully touched down on the Moons south pole becoming the first country to achieve the
legendary feat.
The country
became the fourth country after the US China and Russia to successfully land on the
moon.
